"Slow Fashion is an awareness and approach to fashion, which considers the processes and resources required to make clothing, particularly focusing on sustainability. It involves buying better-quality garments that will last for longer and values fair treatment of people, animals and the planet."

The Fashion Industry as a whole generates more greenhouse gas emissions and uses more energy than all the international flights and maritime shipping combined. Hence Elwyn's choice to digitally print their scarves, which is the eco-friendliest process compared to the many traditional printing methods in the fashion/textile world.  Digitally printed fabrics virtually eliminates the consumption of water, electricity and the discharge of noxious chemicals into the local eco systems.  Digital Textile Printing saved over 40 billion liters of water worldwide in 2018. Offering an efficient solution when compared to traditional water usage for rotary screen printing which is in the region of 50-60 liters of water per meter.  Digital Textile Printing not only offers the Fashion Industry an elegant and cost effective production system that creates an equally high quality printed fabric, it also allows for our industry an opportunity and alternatives to creating beautiful fashion while dramatically reducing the negative impacts on local environments and the planet at large.  Elwyn considers sustainability to be a core company value and we are committed to minimizing the company’s carbon footprint.  Sustainability isn’t just a passing trend.  It is a mindset.  One that ELWYN will put into practice and endeavor to do better every step of the way.

To ensure the longevity of your silk scarf, manufacturer says DRY CLEAN ONLY. If you have deep set stains Madame Paulette in New York City are experts at handling silk scarves and are known to remove the toughest stains with caution and precision.

If you simply want to clean your scarf, with a little care and the correct method and products you may successfully and gently hand-wash your silk scarf separately using cool/lukewarm water and a mild detergent like Delicate Wash from The Laundress. Swirl and soak your scarf for no more than 3-4 minutes. Gently roll the wet scarf in a towel to absorb excess moisture, unroll and then fold over a clean, dry towel, on the back of a chair to hang dry (do not use hanger clips as they will leave dent marks on your scarf). Then iron to soften the scarf and get out wrinkles.

To Iron your silk scarf always use the lowest cotton setting and use low steam if the silk is dry. Place the silk scarf face down on an ironing table (you may also cover the scarf with a clean cotton cloth for extra safety) and iron for about 60 seconds or until dry. Please note: Do Not iron the rolled hem, as this process will flatten it and it will lose its rounded shape.

Steaming your scarf is also a great way to get out wrinkles and is silk safe.
